Antique English Silk Embroidery Sampler, Mourning, Tapestry in Frame, c.1808 Tyrol 1830-50 high-polish locket of naturalAn exquisite example of 200 year old silk embroidery samplers, this one is a mourning devotional and mourns the loss of "Sacred to the Memory of Musgrave Brown, Died June 11, 1808, aged 40 years" sewn on the silk tomb. The chenille stitches, long stitches and super fine embroidery in silk is more than 200 years old and has very little damage. You can see our images show there is a line of broken silk, fully visible but well contained within the frame
