The estates origins trace back to the 18th century when it was acquired by Mark Kirwan, an Irish merchant who expanded the vineyards and elevated the chteaus reputation. In 1925, the Schrder and Schler families, both renowned Bordeaux ngociants, acquired Chteau Kirwan. Under
