21st Wahaika Jewellery The head of the ManaiaA Wahaika literally means 'mouth of the fish' and was traditionally made of whalebone or would. It is a short club with a carved figure on one side of the blade (Pkaiora which represents the God of tribal war, who guards warriors during battle). It was used in close hand to hand combat, with the Pkaiora used to deflect blows while allowing the wielder to strike their opponent in the chest, head or wrist.
