And now for something totally different… I was inspired by all the images flooding my social media of my friends and family throughout the country experiencing heavy snow and freezing temps

They are so beautiful and always a special treat to see their shocking bright colors winging their way across the desert

For the subject “ecosystem engineers” I chose the Sonoran Desert sentinel – the saguaro cactus

The spiky leaves of the rosette look incapable of creating such soft beauty

One of the aspects of this particular species of agave, the Parryi agave, is its beautiful symmetry. Also known as the Artichoke agave, but I wouldnt advise eating it!
